The past few years have seen an increase in not only women as entrepreneurs but as start- up business owners.
The stereotype that women cannot successfully run a business has quickly become a saying of the past as women are increasing their presence in the business world. According to Women’s Policy Research “29% of America’s business owners are women, that’s up from 26% in 1997. The number of women-owned firms has grown 68% since 2007, compared with 47% for all businesses.”
With women having dealt with lower pay rates than men and inequality in the workforce it’s no wonder that an uprise in self owned businesses has occurred. Women have definitely learned how to “make it work” for themselves.
But is the idea of women owning their own business really that far off? If anything more women should be motivated and encouraged to join the club of Entrepreneurs!
This is why women owning their own business just makes sense!
- You get to be your own boss! No more standing in the shadows of men at your past job. You get to run your business and use your full potential as a creative and innovative women.
- Who knows better about the consumer industry? The consumer world which encompasses toys, furniture and home furnishings, gifts, greeting cards, jewelry, and more is currently one of the top industries today. I would say we as women happen to know a few things about the above categories. I mean jewelry come on! Since we make up the majority of buyers out there, it would only make sense that we as women would know what to look for in a great product, hence being able to contribute creative ideas to the industry.
- Who says stay at home moms can’t work? Starting your own business is a great way to make money while taking care of the family. The possibilities of start up businesses from your home are endless especially with social media and the boom in technology.
- Multi-Tasking Duh!The ability to multi task is second nature to us, especially to those women who have experienced raising children, tending to their husband, and having a job! As a business owner the ability to multi task and see the whole picture is key to managing a number of people and launching your product successfully.
